CBS GentL Air Cable Blowing Machine – Practical and Safe

CBS GentL Air Cable Blowing Machine – Practical and Safe

Built to safely and efficiently install blown fibre into microducts using a battery operated drill and compressed air, the CBS GentL Air Blowing Machine is a portable and affordable solution that still offers a powerful array of features.

Designed around 1-3mm diameter cables in duct sizes of 4-7mm, the GentL Air is ideal for installing today’s popular small size fibre optic cables. These small cables can be delicate which is why the GentL Air is designed to put as little stress on them as possible. Supplied with a built-in clutch mechanism, the GentL Air protects the cables during installation and is fully adjustable so you can find the right settings for optimised blowing.

We recommend using a crash test to determine the clutch settings before blowing – simply take a piece of duct, put a cap on the end and run fibre into the duct until it hits the dead end. Start the test at a low clutch setting, increasing over time to find the optimal setting without over pushing the cable.

Due to its compact natural and external power source, the GentL Air is easy to transport between jobs and is supplied with a travel bag. Optional accessories include a tripod mount, and a drill stand for sturdy placement while blowing helping to make using the GentL Air Blowing Machine easier than ever.

CBS Tornado Blowing Machine Maintenance Guide – Lubricating the Drive Chains

CBS Tornado Blowing Machine Maintenance Guide – Lubricating the Drive Chains

Keeping the CBS Tornado Cable Blowing Machine maintained is critical to keeping it working at peak efficiency, and is a relativity simple task for your team to carry out. In this blog we’ll cover the most important maintenance that is often overlooked – the proper lubrication of the drive chains.

Every time that you or your team use the Tornado Blowing Machine, the following lubrication should be carried out, this will help prevent the chain from running dry and inefficiently – causing increased job times and wear on the components of the Tornado. We suggest using Metaflux Spray Grease 70-80 – the same grease we send with the Tornado from the factory.

Follow these steps below to properly lubricate the chains of your Tornado Cable Blowing Machine:

  1. Run the Tornado at 45m/min without any cable or applied air
  2. Carefully insert the spray tube from the canister into the red painted holes on the operator side of both the top and bottom aluminium drive castings until the chain can just be felt
  3. Withdraw the spray tube 20-25mm and spray for approximately 1 second

Warning: Do not over lubricate the Tornado’s chains as this can lead to the drive belts becoming contaminated with lubricant. If contamination does occur thoroughly wipe the belts clean before attempting to blow any cables. Do not use harsh solvents. Do not use WD40 or similar sprays as these contain solvents that will wash away the graphite lubricant in the bearings.

This simple maintenance service on the Tornado is necessary to keep the machine in pristine condition and will prevent down time and lost revenue in the future.

CBS C-1045 Pull and Assist Winch – Power and Ease of use

CBS C-1045 Pull and Assist Winch – Power and Ease of use

Designed to exceed the requirements of installing underground cables, the CBS C-1045 Pull and Assist Winch employs a large 32″ diameter single capstan to provide controlled pulling force on rope or tape. This single capstan design allows the winch to be placed at the mid point of a section to assist in the pull enabling longer overall pull lengths.

Unlike traditional pullers that must be re-assembled on every operation, the C-1045 is always ready for the job. Mounted on a sturdy all steel chassis equipped with torsion suspension axles and stabilising prop legs, the C-1045 is secure and easy to position of multitude of ground types.

The integrated storage reel will pull the line off the capstan and store it as you are pulling which means you might be able to reuse your pulling line instead of disposing of it after the operation is finished. The C-1045’s capstan can also be angled at 45 degrees in order to figure eight the cable.

Operator controls are simple to use and ergonomic with a spring-centred lever that controls the direction of rotation of the capstan while the detent level engages the take-up drum drive. A control knob limits the maximum rope/cable tension based on readings from the panel mounted  tension indicator.

Crosswise Installer Day

CBS Cable Fleeter

CBS Cable Fleeter

CBS build three sizes of Cable Fleeters which are designed to replace the manual ‘figure of eighting’ method and provides security and protection for the cable from mud, soil or dust. After installation of the first leg of the duct route, the remaining cable is fed into the fleeter, releasing the cable end ready for blowing into the second leg.

The largest unit is mounted on a road going trailer and will accept up to 3000m of 13mm cable, allowing up to 6000m of cable to be utilised. Two smaller non-trailer mounted units are available, one for use with the Airstream, accepting cable diameters of 5-11mm up to 2000m in length and one for use with the Breeze, accepting cable diameters of 5-8mm up to 2000m in length.
