The system employs a range of drums to suit particular applications. The powerful winch is mounted on a robust steel chassis with a single axle trailer facility for site manoeuvrability. The engine fitted with electric start, powers the drive spindle of the drum via a gearbox and hydraulic circuit, which is designed to achieve smooth, variable control of the winding operation in either direction. Designed to exceed the requirements of installing underground cables, the CBS C-1045 Pull and Assist Winch employs a large 32″ diameter single capstan to provide controlled pulling force on rope or tape. This single capstan design allows the winch to be placed at the mid point of a section to assist in the pull enabling longer overall pull lengths.

The pulling rope of the C-821 can be stored on a de-mountable drum reel for easy storage and is driven independently of the bullwheels to provide a nominal back tension that always matches the speed of the pulling rope.
